Salisbury Court, Edinburgh
ConForce were awarded the subcontract to design, supply and install the post tensioning system to the podium decks and suspended slabs for the Barratt Homes project at Salisbury Court, Lochend in Edinburgh. The area of post tensioned slabs is 9200m² including some 2300m² at podium level; these are particularly complex with differing loads, steps, complex shapes and transfer beams.
Using our experienced staff for design and drawing work, ConForce developed a detailed scheme for the various sections of the project, allowing Dunne Building & Civil Engineering Ltd to progress them as fast as possible independently. The main floors of the apartments – 7 floors of 6900m² of slabs are progressing to a fast track programme of between 750 and 1000m² per week, all placing stressing and grouting works were carried out by a small ConForce team. The slabs are constructed with the now well established bonded flat oval tendons; in this system the prestressing force is applied by high tensile steel strands which are bonded to the structure and protected from corrosion by the grouting up with a premixed designed grout specially developed for post tensioned tendons.
